We ended our Star Wars celebration with the addition of our final droid, R2-Q5. Students raced against each other with R2-D2 and R2-Q5 in the obstacle course. The student who reached the finish line the fastest without knocking any Star Wars figures over was the champion.
Students used a new droid, R2-D2 for the first time. They had to complete an obstacle course in which they had to maneuver the droid around blocks with Star Wars figures on top. The object of this weeks challenge was to complete the course quickly without knocking any thing down.
This week students used BB9 to jump a ramp and then knock down Star Wars characters. Students used strategies that included Speed, Direction, and Distance to complete this robotics task.
The next challenge was an unplugged Star Wars coding activity. Unplugged activities promote critical thinking for coding without use of electronic equipment. Our second Star Wars challenge was color coding Star Wars ABC’s with Ozobots. Students had to select a STAR WARS letter and color code the letter for Ozobot to follow.
What started as a pun on ‘may the force be with you’ has now become a huge celebration across the globe.
